Gide advised the European Commission on the concession of the IRIS2 Satellite Constellation.
The Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnectivity and Security by Satellite (IRIS2) project is being led by the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DEFIS), with the support of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the EU Space Program Agency (EUSPA). It will enable the deployment of a multi-orbital constellation (MEO and LEO) of nearly 300 satellites and will offer secure connectivity services to the European Union and its Member States, as well as broadband connectivity to government authorities, private companies and European citizens, while guaranteeing high-speed Internet access to deal with dead zones in terms of connectivity.
Following the call for tenders launched on 24 March 2023, the SpaceRISE consortium led by Eutelsat, SES and Hispasat, with Thales, Airbus, OHB, Deutsche Telekom and Orange, has signed the concession contract. The concession contract between SpaceRISE and the European Commission was signed on 16 December 2024.
