The final of the third edition of Gide's student challenge Shake The Law, dedicated to law and innovation, took place last night.

This year, the students worked on "NFT (Non Fungible Tokens), new instruments of the digital economy".

Following a preliminary selection stage, the 5 finalist teams, who had been selected from among 100 applications, defended their ideas before a prestigious jury made up of innovation players:

•     Anne Lalou, Chair of Innovation Factory, and director of the Web School Factory;
•     Faustine Fleuret, Chair & CEO of ADAN;
•     Guillaume Tormo, VP, Associate General Counsel of Ubisoft;
•     Stéphane Puel, Gide partner, Banking & Finance;
•     Camille Truchot, Gide associate, Intellectual Property, Media & Technology;
•     Claire Debourg, Gide consultant, Arbitration, University lecturer;
•     Matthieu Lucchesi, Gide counsel, Innovation & Fintech, Gide 255 ;
•     Franck Guiader, Head of Fintech & Innovation, Gide 255.

The team made up of Amal El Jabri and Jalalle Essalhi was declared winner of this challenge and was awarded a EUR 6,000 prize and the chance to publish their work on Gide's website. The runner-up is the team made up of Joseph Righenzi de Villers and Alexis de Mailly Nesle, who will also have the chance to publish an article on Gide.com.

What were the main stages?

• Registrations opened on 17 January to 28 February 2022: candidates had to register as a team of two, with their CVs and a video of max. 2 minutes.
• The five selected teams and the specific topic for the edition, "NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens), new instruments in the digital economy", were announced the 10 March 2022.
• The precise case study for the final was revealed to the teams, who then had a few weeks to research the issues raised and offer sound, creative and surprising solutions.
• The final took place on 29 March 2022, before a jury of experts in innovation. The finalists had 15 minutes to present their project and convince the jury. The winning two teams were announced at the end of the five presentations and the jury's deliberations. 

Who can apply to try to "Shake the Law"? 

If you have at least 5 years' higher education and specialise in Law, Economics & Business, Engineering & Tech, or Political sciences, then this competition is for you!

The jury will be sensitive to how your fields of specialisation complement each other in favour of law and innovation, to the originality of your application video, and to the relevance of your final arguments.

Above and beyond expressing your passion for your field and the meetings this competition fosters, you can win: 

• 1st place: EUR 6,000 for the team and an article published on gide.com
• 2nd place: an article published on gide.com
