Member of the Paris Bar and Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, Astrid Westphalen is counsel in Gide's Arbitration & Litigation department in Paris.
Astrid advises and represents companies before international arbitral tribunals in both commercial and investment disputes. She handles a wide range of arbitration proceedings including ad hoc arbitrations (such as UNCITRAL) and those governed by institutional rules (such as ICC, ICSID, SAC and CMAP). Fluent in both French and English, Astrid assists clients in multiple jurisdictions and in diverse industries, particularly those in the construction, energy, insurance-reinsurance and public service concessions sectors.
In 2023, Astrid was elected to the Board of Paris Arbitration Week for a three-year term and is part of the Paris Arbitration Week Organising Committee.
Astrid was seconded for eight months to Engie Global Energy Management in the Litigation and Risk Long Term Gas team. She participated in the negotiation and drafting of several contracts and amendments (gas conversion contracts, gas transmission contracts, storage contracts, partial novation of a gas sales contract) as well as in the drafting of settlement protocols for the withdrawal of pending proceedings.
She is a graduate of the University of Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne (Master II in international trade law and Master I in French and English law) and of King's College London (Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in English and French law).
