Gide’s Casablanca and Brussels offices assisted Renault Trucks (Volvo group) on the divestment of its Moroccan subsidiary Renault Trucks Maroc to longstanding distribution partner Groupe Bernard Hayot (GBH).
The closing took place on 1 November 2017, following the approval of the transaction by the Moroccan competition authorities.
A long-standing distributor of Renault Trucks in the French Antilles, Reunion Island, Ghana and the Ivory Coast, GBH intends to expand its development in Africa and strengthen its offer on the Moroccan market. GBH was already present in North Africa with the Hertz franchise in Morocco and the distribution of Citroën and Scania in Algeria.
Gide Casablanca assisted Renault Trucks with a team led by counsel Simon Auquier, assisted by Chloé Joachim de Larivière. Competition and antitrust aspects were handled by partner Stéphane Hautbourg and counsel Ségolène Pelsy (Gide Brussels).
