24 July 2012: Gide advises GDF SUEZ - Cofely on major energy services project in China
Gide Loyrette Nouel (GLN) has advised GDF SUEZ - Cofely on a major project to build, own and operate the district cooling in Yujiapu, a new financial district in Tianjin, China.
The project, part of the development and construction of Yujiapu as a "low carbon" model district, involves cooperation and joint venture arrangements between GDF SUEZ - Cofely and Tianjin Innovative Finance Investment Co.
This project, which will be completed in several phases, will deliver cooling to 1.8 million m2 of office space. A further development may be carried out to reach 9.5 million m2 of mixed office and commercial space by 2025, with additional cooling requirements
The first phase of the project will involve the construction of two cooling centres to provide more energy efficient cooling for the Yujiapu district. According to GDF SUEZ - Cofely, the cooling centre systems should have an overall energy efficiency at least 30% above that of stand alone solutions.
Gide Loyrette Nouel advised GDF SUEZ - Cofely on all aspects of this innovative project, including advising on the establishment of two joint ventures and drafting and negotiating the contractual investment and project documentation. The GLN team was led by partners Thomas Urlacher and Stephane Vernay, assisted by Liu Yue.
"We were delighted to assist GDF SUEZ - Cofely on this important project" commented Thomas Urlacher, while Stephane Vernay explained that "This project represents a milestone for GDF SUEZ - Cofely in the development of their activities in district energy networks and services in Asia."
