On 18 July 2017, Eiffel Investment Group, Gide, PricewaterhouseCoopers, CACEIS and Paymium announce the creation of the French Association for the Management of CryptoCurrencies (Association Française pour la Gestion des Cybermonnaies - AFGC) during a presentation on investing in cryptocurrencies.
The market of cryptocurrencies has seen an unparalleled growth in 2017. Market size has dramatically increased, the number of cryptocurrencies has developed exponentially and, consequently, interest from all sorts of investors is growing rapidly. Behind this boom lies the adoption of a revolutionary technology: Blockchain. It is now urgent for financial market participants to inform themselves and engage with the cryptocurrency eco-system.
The aim of the French Association for the Management of CryptoCurrencies is to contribute to the sustainable development of investment in cryptocurrencies. It will provide a forum for participants in this new field, enable them to discuss opportunities, challenges and difficulties, and foster contacts between cryptocurrency investors, financial markets experts, French and European public regulatory authorities, and more generally all participants interested in the development of cryptocurrencies.
During the presentation, organised by Eiffel Investment Group, Gide's managing partner Stéphane Puel, who specialises in investment funds and asset management, spoke on opportunities and threats of investing in cybercurrencies, a new asset class ("L’investissement dans les cybermonnaies, les opportunités et les risques que présente l’émergence de cette nouvelle classe d’actifs"). Other speakers include: Pierre Gérard (CEO of Scorechain and co-founder of the Fundchain consortium), Ingrid Dubourdieu (partner at Dlaw Deloitte) and Marie-Line Ricard (partner at PwC, in charge of the Blockchain Lab).
