Gide Warsaw has been recognised in the “Leaders of the Financing Transactions Support in 2014” (“Liderzy obsługi transakcji finansowania AD 2014”) league table, organised by the leading information portal of the Polish legal market Polski Prawnik (Polish Lawyer).
The report presents the main financing and refinancing transactions carried out in Poland in 2014, both in the fields of bank credit facilities and the issuance of public bonds, and ranks them by value. The ranking includes three deals handled by Gide Warsaw.
These three deals come to a total value of 12 billion Polish zlotys (i.e. approximately EUR 2.9 billion), meaning Gide Warsaw takes third place in the Polish market behind US law firms Greenberg Traurig (aggregate value of PLN 13.9 billion) and White & Case (PLN 12.2 billion).
The first deal listed is one of last year’s key projects for Gide Warsaw: advising KGHM, the Polish leader in the extraction of copper and precious metals, on a USD 2.5 billion unsecured revolving credit facility granted by a consortium of Polish and international banks. This was the largest financial transaction on the Polish market in 2014.
Two other projects were also recognised: (a) advising KGHM on a PLN 2 billion unsecured loan facility granted by the European Investment Bank, and (b) advising Unibail-Rodamco on a EUR 200 million financing facility extended by a pool of German banks refinancing the Galeria Mokotów, one of the largest shopping centres in Warsaw (most significant real estate refinancing in Poland in 2014).
The two KGHM deals were led by partners Dariusz Tokarczuk, Paweł Grześkowiak and Dimitrios Logizidis from the London office. The Unibail-Rodamco deal was handled by partner Hugues Moreau.
