Opportunities for Russian Business in Iran

As part of a global round table series, Adam Smith Conferences and Bourse & Bazaar have partnered with Skolkovo Institute of Emerging Markets Research and international law firm Gide to convene a special high-level roundtable on Iran on 8 June 2017, from 9.30 to 12.30.

Gide partners Tim Theroux (Moscow) and Mehrnoosh Aryanpour (Tehran) took part in this roundtable. Ms Aryanpour spoke in particular on legal and operational strategies.

Key questions addressed during the seminar include:

  • What is the impact of President Rouhani’s election win? What is the scale of the opportunity in the Iranian market?
  • Has the Iran investment timeframe shifted given post-election political and economic developments? What are the key trends and triggers that will drive economic growth forward?
  • What is likely sequence by which banking and financial channels with Iran can be reopened? What are case studies of mechanisms that are working now? What role can Russia play? In what sectors can Russian companies make in-roads in Iran and what key political and commercial risks will need to be addressed?
