Gide associate Dr. Zach Pouga (Tax, New York office) has been invited for the second year by the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) to lead panel sessions on international tax issues in the extractive industry at the 2019 Intergovernmental Dialogue Days. Zach is presenting to an audience of government officials attending the conference in Zambia, including high-level officials from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tunisia, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, Mauritius, Malawi, Madagascar, Kenya, Libya, Ethiopia, Egypt, Congo, Burundi, Eritrea, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Botswana, Tanzania and Namibia.
NEPAD is the capacity-building arm of the African Union and COMESA is the 21 member States free trade and custom union zone with a core mission to sustain regional development through economic integration. NEPAD and COMESA jointly organized the 2019 Intergovernmental Dialogue Days, hosted in Zambia from September 16 through 20, 2019. The Dialogue Days aim at providing high-level technical training on the most pressing legal and tax issues facing African countries. Experts from around the world are invited to provide the technical training and the forum provides an opportunity for the different participating governments to share experiences and discuss their most pressing local issues with others.
