Côte d'Ivoire | Public Law & Real Estate
On 17 January 2018 in Abidjan, the Minister for construction, housing, sanitation and urban planning of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Mr Claude-Isaac DÉ, and representatives of Gide law firm, signed a legal assistance agreement to draft a construction and housing code.
The purpose is to provide the country with a regulatory framework meeting the most stringent standards as regards legal certainty, both for users and international investors.
Mr DÉ indicated: "We would like to draw on Gide's tried and tested experience in terms of advice to governments to help us draw up a body of rules that is essential in the field of construction, and thus support the government policy in favour of investment in real estate". The assignment will be led by partners Emmanuel Vital-Durand and Nicolas Planchot, with counsel Nicolas Jean, alongside Mr Adama Koné from Côte d'Ivoire law firm 3K, who together have submitted to the minister and inter-ministerial group their preliminary findings and recommendations.
