Marc-Antoine de Chillaz is Counsel in Gide's Competition team in Brussels, which he joined in 2016. Marc-Antoine has developed a dual expertise in competition law and regulatory & advocacy.
In competition law, Marc-Antoine's practice focuses on state aid matters and antitrust. He advises clients on all issues relating to the qualification of state aids and their compatibility with the internal market, in the context of the notification of state aids, as well as in proceedings in front of the European Commission. Marc-Antoine also assists clients on cartel and abuse of dominant position issues, for example in the context of complaints to the European Commission. He also intervenes in merger control.
Marc-Antoine has further developed a strong expertise in regulatory & advocacy. Marc-Antoine is involved in the early stages of the publication of legislative and regulatory texts to analyse their content, identify the risks and opportunities for clients and draft position papers and amendments. He also intervenes downstream to defend an interpretation of the texts in line with these interests or to challenge the legality of these texts before the competent courts.
Marc-Antoine is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (LL.M in European and International Business Law), the University of Paris II - Pantheon Assas (Master in European Business Law) and the University of Paris I - Pantheon Sorbonne (Master in European Law).
