Fan Jiannian, partner and head of Gide’s Shanghai office, was honoured as one of China’s top 100 lawyers by China Business Law Journal, a leading industry magazine in China.
CBLJ compiled the list, featured in its November 2016 issue, based on nominations and feedback from in-house counsel on the best private practice lawyers on the Chinese market. The article may be viewed online here (subscription only).
Fan Jiannian specialises in cross-border M&A and corporate financing. He has advised multinational, public and private-sector clients on their activities in Greater China across a broad range of sectors, including automotive, aviation, manufacturing, industrial gases, pharmaceutical, real estate and fashion industries. Notably, he assisted the SEB Group on its acquisition of a majority stake in Zhejiang Supor Co., Ltd. in two separate transactions valued at EUR 750 million and Veolia Environnement on its first issuance of panda bonds on the Chinese domestic bond market for EUR 135 million.
Jiannian has recently been advising an increasing number of Chinese companies on their investments abroad, including Kweichow Moutai, China’s leading distillery, on its acquisition of Château Loudenne (Médoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of Bordeaux) in Bordeaux and real estate in Paris, as well as China Export-Import Bank on its financing of China Huaxin’s acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent’s French assets for nearly EUR 200 million.
Jiannian also acts as the firm’s representative at the Shanghai Bar and is a member of the Ningbo and Zhejiang Chambers of Commerce.
