Gide advised the French State on the transfer of state export guarantee activities from Coface, a world leader in credit insurance, to Bpifrance following negotiations that began in July 2015 between Coface and the State on the principle of this transfer and on its various conditions.
State export guarantees are a central pillar of the policy to support French companies’ development. The French government wishes to strengthen the efficiency of the policy by allowing small and medium-sized companies to have easier access to support and by offering a ‘one-stop-shop’ able to respond to their growth challenges, particularly in international markets. The transfer’s finalisation required in particular the modification of the legislative and regulatory framework applicable to the management of public guarantees and the signing of a successor agreement between Bpifrance and Coface.
