Gide is advising a consortium of investors on a solar power plant project involving a public-private partnership between IFC InfraVentures, member of the World Bank Group, Scatec Solar, a Norwegian integrated independent solar power producer, and a local developer, Africa Power 1.
The project includes the financing, construction and operation of a 33-MW solar power plant in Segou, 240 kilometres East from Bamako, for a total cost of EUR 52 million.
The concession contract and the power purchase agreement were signed with the Malian authorities in Bamako on July 9.
Mr Mamadou Frankaly Keita, Malian Minister for Energy and Water, has hailed this "landmark agreement", which will make it possible to meet Mali's considerable energy demand, whilst also developing the renewable energy sector in a country offering exceptional solar resources.
Gide's team dedicated to advising the project's developers consisted of partner John Crothers assisted by associates Pierre Bernheim and Barthélemy Littot, for project related aspects, and partner David Boitout on corporate law matters. On Malian law aspects, Gide was assisted by Bérenger Meuke of Jurifis Consult.
