On 30 April 2019, Gide, in consortium with Etude Abdel Hamid & Co (Mauritanian firm), entered into a service provision contract to assist the Central Bank of Mauritania (Banque Centrale de Mauritanie, BCM) in reviewing the regulatory framework that governs banking and financial activities within the jurisdiction of the BCM.
On 13 June 2019, Gide, represented by partners Nicolas Jean and Olivier Bernardi, with associate Perrine Delandre, and Etude Abdel Hamid & Co, represented by partner Mohamed Lemine Abdel Hamid, met in Nouakchott Mr Abdel Aziz Dahi, governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania in order to discuss objectives and driving principles to be followed by the consortium and the BCM as part of the reform under consideration.
Gide and Etude Abdel Hamid & Co also attended the technical meetings to launch the project, which took place in Nouakchott on 13 and 14 June 2019, coordinated by Moussa Eba (BCM legal affairs director). Around 40 national experts of the Central Bank of Mauritania also took part.
