Gide’s Casablanca office assisted the African Development Bank, acting in its own name and on its own behalf and in the name and on behalf of the Canada - African Development Bank Climate Fund and the Clean Technology Fund, on the implementation of three financings granted to OCP S.A. in the context of its new green investment program.
The two loans, granted respectively by the African Development Bank and the Canada-AfDB Climate Fund, for a total principal amount of one hundred and sixty-eight million US dollars (168,000,000 USD), are intended to finance the acquisition of modular seawater desalination units, enabling OCP S.A. to supply its industrial and mining sites with non-conventional water, and to supply several million m3 of drinking water to the cities of Safi and El-Jadida.
The twenty-million-dollar (USD 20,000,000) loan from the Clean Technology Fund is intended to enable OCP S.A. to design and build facilities for storing energy generated from renewable sources.
The Gide team consisted of Wacef Bentaibi, partner, and Mounia Larhrissi, associate.
OCP S.A. was advised by Naciri & Associés Allen & Overy.
