IFA USA New York Conference: Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA)
On 5 December 2023, Vanessa Tollis will serve as an expert panelist at the International Fiscal Association’s USA Branch New York Conference (in-person). This session will address the tax regime applicable to foreign persons disposing of U.S. real property interests.
The topics addressed include the definition of U.S. real property interest, different structuring alternatives, financing techniques, and special exemptions (including recent guidance) applicable to certain investments in publicly traded companies and real estate investment trusts.
