31 July 2012: Mortgage bond issue: Gide Loyrette Nouel advises on France's first transaction, arranged by BNP Paribas for a value of EUR 472 million
Gide Loyrette Nouel has advised the arranger BNP Paribas on France's very first mortgage bond issue, worth EUR 472 million. This is the first such financing operation seen in France, as well as one of the most significant carried out on a single asset in Europe. It concerns the refinancing of the "Lumière" building, the largest privately-owned office building in Paris, located in the city's 12th district and with a total surface area of 135,000 sq. m., owned inter alia by Tishman Speyer.
This innovative bond issue has been entirely taken up by a consortium of major French institutional investors, alongside BNP Paribas. The latter's Real Estate Finance, Corporate Finance and Fixed Income teams worked together to enable BNP Paribas to act as sole arranger, structuring consultant and sales agent.
BNP Paribas was advised by Gide Loyrette Nouel with a team led by partners Kamel Ben Salah and Hubert du Vignaux, assisted by Delphine Guillotte and Nicolas Jean, associates, and the notary firm of Allez et Associés.
Tishman Speyer was advised by De Pardieu Brocas Maffei, Finae Advisors and the firm of Wargny Katz.
