Gide has advised Renault, a leading European vehicle manufacturer, on its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng), China's second-largest vehicle manufacturer.
Based in Wuhan, Hebei Province, where Dongfeng’s head office is located, the joint venture will see Renault invest RMB 11 billion (USD 1.8 billion). Production is scheduled to commence in 2014 and will have an initial annual output capacity of 150,000 cars and engines.
Gide advised Renault on all aspects of the transaction, ranging from the transfer of shares from Renault's former joint venture with Sanjiang to Dongfeng, to the drafting and negotiation of contractual investment and project documentation.
Concepcion Pires-de-Paz acted as principal in-house counsel and coordinated the Renault legal team.
