Gide, partner of the Paris Arbitration Week 2022

We are delighted to be attending the 6th edition of the Paris Arbitration Week, which will take place from 28 March to 1 April 2022.

This year, our lawyers will be present at three events:

• Tuesday 29 March, from 3.30 to 4.45 pm: “Estimating Damages in the Face of Uncertainty”, a webinar organised by NERA Economic Consulting. The panel will be made up of Alexandra Munoz, Gide partner; Alexandre Carbonnel, associate director of NERA; Thomas Voisin, managing partner of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP; and Michael Conrad, lawyer at Clyde & Co. It will be moderated by Fernando Jiménez Latorre, director of NERA.

• Wednesday 30 March, from 4 to 6 pm: “EU State aid law and arbitration: recent developments in the case-law of the European Court of Justice”, a conference initiated in partnership with Efila and Essec Business School, on the tensions between the European law of State aids and arbitration, in light of ECJ case-law. The conference will be moderated by Saadia Bhatty, counsel at Gide London; Leigh Hancher, professor of European Law at the University of Tilburg and part-time Professor at the Florence School of Regulation within the European University Institute and the Director of the FSR Energy Union Law Area; José Ángel Rueda García, senior associate at Cuatrecasas (Madrid); and Tim Maxian Rusche, European Commission

• Thursday 31 March, from 2 to 5 p.m.: Gide and the African Academy for International Law Practise are organising, for the third consecutive year, the Annual Day for International Law in Africa. The driving theme of this edition is “Mining disputes and the African continent: revenue, environment and Human rights”, which will be addressed in two panels:

  • “Disputes related to the allocation of revenue generated by mining operations”, moderated by Etienne Kochoyan, Gide associate in Paris, alongside Thomas Lassourd (International Institute for Sustainable Development), Hervé Lado (Natural Ressource Governance Institute) and Magueye Gueye, Gide counsel  in Paris;

  • “Taking the environment and Human rights into account in mining disputes”, moderated by Alexandra Munoz, Gide partner in Paris, alongside Saadia Bhatty, Gide counsel in London, Professor Jean-Didier Boukongou (Catholic University of Central Africa), Alexandre Vagenheim (Jus Mundi), Hervé Lado (Natural Resource Governance Institute) and Jean-Baptiste Harelimana (African Academy for International Law Practise).
