Orestes Catsoulis is an associate in the Economic & European Law team in the firm's Brussels office. His practice focuses on the financial sector, advising both on transactional aspects (banking, DCM, sustainable finance, ...) as well as on matters relating to EU regulation (financial services, internal market, budget & fiscal rules, ...) and competition (state aid, antitrust and merger control).
Orestes also represents financial institutions, private equity and credit funds, asset managers, and FinTech companies in relation to EU agencies and supervisory institutions. He provides guidance on European institution rule-making and policy implementation.
Before joining Gide in 2023, Orestes gained experience as an associate at international law firms in Brussels and Luxembourg. He has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 2022.
Orestes holds an LL.M. from the London School of Economics (2021) and both a Master of Laws (2020) and a Bachelor of Laws (2018) from the Catholic University of Leuven. In addition, he completed an Erasmus exchange year at Durham University in 2019. He speaks Dutch, French and English.
