Member of the French Council of State since 1996, Frédéric Mion joined Gide as a partner in June 2022. His professional career has given him an intimate knowledge of both government structures and private sector players. In the public sphere, he has performed the jurisdictional and consultative functions specific to the Conseil d'Etat, but also, outside this institution, the functions of adviser in a ministerial cabinet (to Jack Lang, Minister of Education, in 2000), director of central administration (at the Ministry of the Civil Service and State Reform, from 2001 to 2003) and finally director of a major public higher education institution, Sciences Po, from 2013 to 2021.
In the private sector, he co-headed the public law department of the law firm Allen & Overy in Paris, where he was a partner from 2003 to 2007, then served as General Secretary of the Canal+ Group, France's leading media group and a major player in the production and broadcasting of audiovisual content on the African continent.
His practice at Gide focuses on the law of regulated sectors, with a particular specialisation in the media, electronic communications and digital sectors.
Frédéric Mion is a graduate of Sciences Po (1992), the Ecole normale supérieure de la rue d'Ulm (1988-1992), Princeton University (1990-1991) and the Ecole nationale d'administration (class of 1996).
