Max De Castelnau

Max de Castelnau is an associate in Gide's "litigation" team in Paris.
He assists the firm's clients at every stage of their litigation and pre-litigation proceedings, before the civil, commercial and arbitration courts. His expertise also extends to sports litigation, particularly before the Court of Arbitration for Sport and specialist courts.
Max acts for governments in actions for annulment, appeals against exequatur orders and the defence of enforcement measures. He is also advising investment funds in shareholder disputes and an insurer in serial business interruption litigation arising from the covid-19 crisis. He is currently representing a UK football club in a liability action against a French club following the death of a player.
A graduate of Université Paris II - Panthéon-Assas (M2 International Business Law, 2017), HEC Paris (Law and Management, 2018) and Université Paris-Est Créteil (Sports Law, 2023). Before joining Gide, he worked for a leading French law firm (2020-2024). Max was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2021.
